Apartments in the Central Section of Baton Rouge -- Home to Some Pleasant Surprises

Head east of the hustle and bustle of Downtown, and you'll find yourself in the Central section of Baton Rouge. Specifically, this area stretches south to Florida Boulevard, all the way north to Greenwell Springs Road, and all the way east to the Amite River. Since this is such a large area, you should have no trouble finding the perfect place to live!

Here's what you need to know if you're thinking of renting an apartment in Central Baton Rouge:

- This is a hub for Vietnamese food

Even though you'll be living squarely in Cajun country, your apartment in Central Baton Rouge will actually be close to a number of Vietnamese restaurants. Almost all of them are located along Florida Boulevard, which is one of the busiest thoroughfares in the area.

Or, if you'd rather do the cooking yourself, there are also Asian markets along this stretch of Florida Boulevard where you can buy everything you need to make an authentic meal. Of course, in true Louisiana fashion, your apartment will also be close to a number of barbecue, Soul food, and Cajun restaurants.

- Great nightlife is closer than you think

If you think you'll have to drive all the way Downtown or over near the LSU campus to find something fun to do after dark, think again! Central Baton Rouge is home to a number of bars where you can get everything from New Orleans-style upscale cocktails, to daiquiris, to ice cold draft beer. And, you'll be able to enjoy a variety of entertainment -- from billiards, to Jazz performances, to karaoke.

The best thing about the bars in this area? They cater to a slightly older clientele than what you'll find near LSU, so if you're a young professional who doesn't run with the college crowd anymore, you'll really enjoy hanging out in this part of the city.

- There's a lot of shopping to be done here

There are two main shopping hubs in this area -- Florida Boulevard and Airline Highway. Between the two, you'll be able to buy a variety of clothes, home goods, toys, and even firearms. Plus, the Cortana Mall is located just to the east of Airline Highway, so you won't have to travel far from your Central Baton Rouge apartment to enjoy one-stop shopping. Nearby, you'll also find a Sam's Club, a Walmart Supercenter, and a Home Depot.

Florida Boulevard is especially shopper-friendly. As you drive east on this road, you'll see a different shopping center every couple of blocks!
