Apartments in Zachary and Baker -- The Up and Coming Side of Town

Even though Zachary and Baker are each their own independent cities, they're part of East Baton Rouge Parish -- Louisiana's version of counties. Both are north of the Baton Rouge city limits, with Zachary about 30 minutes from Downtown Baton Rouge and Baker only about 20 minutes north of the Downtown area.

Here's what you can expect if you rent an apartment in either Zachary or Baker:

- A growing community

Both cities are popular Baton Rouge suburbs, but Zachary is especially up and coming. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the population in Zachary climbed almost 25% between 2000 and 2010. In fact, Zachary grew by such leaps and bounds during the 2000's that it took five schools from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and created the Zachary Community School Board. The district succeeded on its own quickly. It's constantly rated as one of the top school districts in the state, and two teachers at Zachary High School were named Louisiana Teacher of the Year within just a couple of years of the district's formation.

While Baker hasn't seen as much population growth as Zachary has, it has enough residents to merit its own school system. The Baker High School band, the "Symphony of Soul", is known statewide for its marching and concert performances.

Whether your apartment sits in Zachary or Baker, you'll only be a few short minutes away from Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport. A little closer to home, Zachary is home to the Lane Regional Medical Center, where you'll find a wide variety of world-class doctors. It's also one of North Baton Rouge's biggest employers.

And, if you need to get around Zachary quickly, the new Bypass was built to reduce traffic on the busy Highways 19 and 64 -- so traffic here won't be a problem!
